COUNTDOWN! ART BASEL MIAMI BEACH!

KRISTINA CRUZ MIAMI BEACH, DEC 3 2012
COUNTDOWN! ART BASEL MIAMI BEACH!

There are many art fairs each year around the world, but there is one that draws the biggest galleries, the most eye-popping works of art and the wealthiest collectors, and that of course is Art Basel in Miami, This year, the show is going to be bigger and better. Even now some are saying that it's bigger than Art Basel in Switzerland. As the count down begins

The most impressive modern and post-modern works were shown on the the first floor, and the second floor was dedicated mostly to more contemporary art. Because of the enormity of the show, we’ve decided to split our coverage similarly. So today, take a look at our images of the modern and post-modern works from the fair, after the jump.

One criticism of the major art fairs is that the participating galleries tend to show at best minor works by major artists; however, this was far less the case at Art Basel last year. There was certainly some amazing pieces by some of the world’s most respective artists. Among the modern and post-modern art, Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat were heavily represented, each with many top-notch pieces that could easily fit into a museum collection.

Wednesday is the big kick off and introduction to the world renown fair  In Miami Beach. Some of the major fairs have already have opened there tents, Get some serious fair activity started with SCOPE, Art Miami, and CONTEXT (all conveniently swarmed around Midtown). Or go over to the Lords Hotel and consult with a giant black dog on the state of your future. We will have more coverage each day, stay tuned to OMG Miami!

Art Basel Miami 2012

It becomes art when people look at it. It doesn't matter if they think its shit or not. It's still art.
